It was commissioned in 1914 and has an installed capacity of 4.5 MW thanks to its four turbines. Statkraft took over the run-of-river hydropower plant from E.ON at the beginning of 2009.
The hydropower plant has a flow rate of 175 cubic meters per second at a fall of 3.5 meters. The four Kaplan turbines generate electricity equivalent to the consumption of 6,200 households.
In addition to the run-of-river power station, the Dörverden site also houses a 3-megawatt battery that provides primary control power and a 750 KWp solar park built and owned by Statkraft.
Dörverden is the operating office of all middle Weser run-of-river hydropower plants. All relevant operations are initiated from this location.
