What was your dream job as a kid and what is your current role at Statkraft?
As a kid, I dreamed of becoming an architect. The idea of designing something and then seeing it come to life in the real world was captivating. It was a beautiful blend of imagination and reality.
Now, I work with sustainability at Statkraft, where I get to turn conceptual ideas into tangible actions, making a real impact on the company and the world. I chose the Statkraft International Trainee Programme because I wanted to learn about the company in various ways, discover what I truly enjoy, and get exposed to different departments.
Tell us about your trainee experience so far!
Before joining, I had high expectations for the Statkraft trainee programme, and I’ve been pleased. I wanted to see different parts of the organization, gain a broader perspective, work on diverse tasks, and learn from new people. As a trainee, you might be in one department but still connect with people from previous rotations or where you're heading next.
Collaborating with others, figuring out how we can be more sustainable, and working with different departments on new projects are all part of my daily routine. It’s exciting to talk to various teams about how we can collaborate with local communities and design new assets.
The most surprising thing I’ve learned about working with renewable energy is that it’s not just about providing renewable energy but also about producing it sustainably. The way we work on projects, construct our assets, and treat our workforce is equally important.
What would you say is the best thing about being a trainee at Statkraft?
The best thing about being a trainee at Statkraft is definitely the people. I’m constantly exposed to talented and curious individuals in an organization full of experts, learning something new every day.
I believe the future of green energy is already here. There’s a strong demand for it, and we need it sooner rather than later. So, to anyone considering joining Statkraft’s trainee programme, I’d say jump on and be part of it!
